GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE INSTALLATION OF THE OLYMPIC SUN SOLAR WATER HEATER

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. - The heater is delivered to the customer in separate pieces which are:
  2. - The hot water storage tank (boiler).
  3. - The collector (pieces depending on the size of the water heater).
  4. - The solar support base.
  5. - The solar connection fittings ( pipe Φ22 ).
  6. - Before starting the installation, make sure that the sun does not hit the mirror crystal by covering it during installation.

BASE ASSEMBLY FOR SOLAR WATER HEATER WITH HIGH BASE 120,150 & 200 LT ( SEE PAGE )

BASE ASSEMBLY FOR SOLAR WATER HEATER LOW BASE 120,150,200, 300 & 400 LT

POSITIONING OF THE COLLECTOR:

  1. - We choose the place where we will place the solar panel so that:
  2. - The surface of the collector should face towards the NOTA.
  3. - Not to be shaded by trees or other adjacent buildings.
  4. - There must be the possibility of proper support on the floor.
  5. - The distance of the solar system from the point of consumption of hot water (bathroom, kitchen) should be as short as possible.
  6. - Screw the collector as shown in the drawing and support it on the floor using the support legs (e).
  7. - The same procedure is followed when we have two collectors that are connected to each other with a rack.
  8. - The base and the collector are screwed down securely with a No. 10 dowel and screws. Avoid using a gun because you will not be able to move it in the future.

POSITIONING OF THE VESSEL (BOILER)

  1. - Place the container on the base as shown in the drawing with the electrical resistance facing right. The following connection procedure follows:
  2. - Place the water inlet pipe from the right side of the tank to the lower right side of the collector.
  3. - Place the cold water hose where the safety valve is located. If the solar panel is connected to a tank then remove the spring inside the tank. We place a vane so that we can isolate the cold water inlet to the Solar. If the solar system is connected directly to the mains then a PRESSURE REDUCER AND 4 or 6 bar INSULATING BOLT will be necessary. The pressure reducer is set (always during the night when water consumption is low and the pressure rises) to 3 bar.

WE ALSO RECOMMEND THE USE OF ANTI-SEIZING VALVE TO FULLY PROTECT YOUR INSTALLATION FROM HYDRAULIC SHOCKS.

Open the cold water inlet tap and wait for the tank and the collector to fill until clean water without air bubbles comes out of the top right part of the collector. Then we close the tap and connect the upper left part of the collector to the tank and the hot water consumption to the rest of the network. Make sure that the hot water pipes are well insulated.

When we finish the work we open the tap and the solar panel is now ready to work. We turn on a hot water tap in the house and degrease the solar panel.

YOUR SOLAR IS NOW READY TO SERVE YOU WINTER - SUMMER

ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE CONNECTION : A 3 x 4 mm2 cable is placed and connected according to the drawing on the solar panel. NEVER APPLY CURRENT TO THE RESISTOR UNTIL YOU ARE SURE THERE IS WATER IN THE CONTAINER.

THE CONNECTION MUST ALWAYS BE MADE BY A LICENSED ELECTRICIAN.

FROST CONDITIONS:

A frost protection device is attached to the lower left part of the collector. There are simple frost protection valves as well as more expensive devices. On those few days where the temperature will drop below 0 we can keep the water in the tank warm by using the electrical resistance. In places where the temperature drops below 0 for long periods of time the closed circuit solar water heater should be preferred.

- Cold water inlet (pressure regulator and safety valve 4 bar).

- Hot water consumption.

- Introduction to the Collector.

- Return of hot from the Collector.

- 3/4″ holes for venting the Collector.

- Magnesium rod.

- Electrical Resistance.

- Connection element with radiator.

CLOSED CIRCUIT

Before starting the installation, make sure that the sun does not hit the mirror crystal by covering it during installation.

POSITIONING OF THE COLLECTOR:

- We choose the place where we will place the solar panel so that.

- Not to be shaded by trees or other adjacent buildings.

- There must be the possibility of proper support on the floor. The distance of the solar system from the point of hot water consumption (bathroom, kitchen) should be as short as possible.

- Screw the collector as shown in the drawing and support it on the floor using the support legs (e). The same procedure is followed when we have two collectors which are joined together with rack and pinion.

- The base and the collector are screwed down securely with dowel No. 12 and screws. Avoid using a pistol because you will not be able to move it in the future.

BOILER INSTALLATION:

Place the container on the base as shown in the drawing with the electrical resistance facing right. The following connection procedure follows:

The figure below shows the correct wiring of the closed circuit piping. After the connections are made, fill the closed circuit tank with antifreeze liquid along with water until it overflows from the two pipes at the top of the boiler. One pipe is tapped and the 1.5 bar safety valve is fitted to the other as shown. BE CAREFUL NOT TO MAKE SIPHONING IN THE TIRES AND PROPER VENTILATION OF THE SYSTEM.

- Place the cold water hose where the safety valve is located. If the solar panel is connected to the posito then remove the spring inside the posito.

- We place a vane so that we can isolate the cold water inlet to the Solar.

- If the solar system is connected directly to the mains, then a PRESSURE REDUCER and a 4 or 6 bar pressure relief valve will be installed.

THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTION MUST ALWAYS BE MADE BY A LICENSED ELECTRICIAN.

For the installation of a closed circuit solar water heater, the same procedure is followed as for the open circuit. The figure below shows the correct wiring of the closed circuit piping. Once the connections are made, fill the closed circuit tank with antifreeze liquid along with water until it overflows from the two pipes at the top of the boiler. One pipe is tapped and the 1.5 bar safety valve is fitted to the other as shown.

POSSIBLE PROBLEMS

When you don't have hot water DO THE FOLLOWING:

Do not shade the collector.

Reverse hot - cold connection.

Existence of air in the collector. Exhaust from the upper right and left side of the collector.

Bad collector orientation.

Any leaks in the connections.

Existence of salts or foreign bodies that have clogged the collector.

Proper insulation of hot piping.

Follow the maintenance instructions.

In the closed circuit, check the amount of water and top up accordingly.
